A Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm is the only way to alert residents to the presence of Carbon Monoxide within a property. A CO alarm via an audible alert

CO alarms should be installed in every room with a fuel-burning appliance (e.g. boilers, gas hobs, open fires). Additionally, CO alarms are recommended in rooms where occupants spend significant time, such as bedrooms and living rooms.

Carbon Monoxide is produced when fuels burn incompletely – this could be from a boiler, gas fire, oven, log burner or a blocked flue or chimney. It can also travel through walls from adjoining properties, so as well as having an alarm next to appliances in your property we would also advise you have one in living spaces and bedrooms. To help prevent a Carbon Monoxide leak we advise getting your appliances regularly serviced by reputable engineers who are gas safety registered.

From October 1st 2022, the law is changing surrounding carbon monoxide alarms in rented properties – for both the private and social sectors. As a private or social landlord, you will need to ensure you have a working carbon monoxide alarm 1‑3 metres away from any fuel burning appliances in a property (excluding gas cookers) and that any faults or repairs are carried out on the alarm in a timely manner.

Extend Your Protection

Protecting your properties and tenants is easier than ever with our range of smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide alarms. To ensure complete coverage, it’s essential to make sure you’re installing best practice and ensure compliance with your regional fire & CO safety laws.

For added peace of mind, upgrade to our Specification Range. These smart alarms, designed for social housing, can be interlinked (via hardwire or wireless) so when one alarm is triggered, all alarms in the property sound. Landlords can monitor and manage alarms remotely via the FireAngel Connected app, receiving device data and notifications without needing access to the property. The free app also allows for easy testing and instant notifications, showing the status of alarms, e.g. if they’ve been removed or need maintenance.
