Where should I install FireAngel heat alarms?

Heat alarms, like the Thermistek Heat Sensing Alarm, are ideal for kitchens, garages, or unconverted lofts. These areas benefit from the reduced likelihood of false alarms caused by fumes or dust.

What does Thermistek technology mean?

FireAngel Thermistek technology is found our Pro Connected heat alarms and combines a patented radiant heat dish, high‑performance Class A1 thermistor and a predictive monitor algorithm in order to provide a quicker response to danger. When compared to traditional heat alarms, Thermistek technology reduces the reaction window by half – meaning you and your family have vital extra time to react.

How does ‘wireless interlink’ work?

When alarms are interlinked they are able to communicate and will alert at the same time if one of the alarms detects danger. In the case of wireless interlink, this communication is in the form of protected radio frequency, which means there’s no need to run cables between the alarms. The FireAngel Pro Connected alarms allow the network to be extended to include devices across your entire home. For example, a network of 7 x smoke alarms, 3 x heat alarms, 3 x carbon monoxide alarms and a Gateway will be completely secure and protect your whole home, and are backwards compatible with the FireAngel Wi‑Safe2 range.

You can also add a Gateway into the network which will allow you to receive updates on the network when you’re away from the home. The Gateway will communicate with the FireAngel Connected App using your home’s internet connection, but if this fails or cuts out the alarms will still protect your home, but you won’t receive a push notification.

What are the latest BS 5839-6:2019 system grades?

Whilst BS 5839‑6 has previously been split into six varying Grades, each outlining the level of protection appropriate for certain properties and their corresponding levels of risk, the new update has altered the six sections, removing Grade B and Grade E, whilst Grade D and Grade F have been split into Grade D1 / Grade D2 and Grade F1 / Grade F2 respectively. Grade C has been revised and its recommendations expanded.

The 2019 grading system is as follows:

Grade A

Separate detectors, sounders and central control and indicating equipment with back-up power supply that conforms to British Standards BS EN 54.

Grade C

Separate detectors and sounders that are mains powered with back-up power supply and central control equipment.

Grade D1

A system of one or more mains powered detectors, each with a tamper‑proof standby supply consisting of a battery or batteries (such as FireAngel’s SM-SN-1 and HM-SN-1 alarm).

Grade D2

A system of one or more mains-powered detectors, each with an integral standby supply consisting of a user‑replaceable battery or batteries. (such as FireAngel’s SW1-PF-T and HW1-PF-T alarm).

Grade F1

A system of one or more battery-powered detectors powered by a tamper‑proof primary battery or batteries (such as FireAngel’s ST-622T, ST-750 alarm).

Grade F2

A system of one or more battery-powered detectors powered by a user‑replaceable primary battery or batteries. (such as FireAngel’s SB1-T alarm).

Please note: Grades B and E are no longer defined in BS 5839-6:2019.
